Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

Hi everyone!

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is coming up in a couple of weeks. Check out their website at www.tulipfestival.org for information.

It's an easy drive from Vancouver and once you get there, you'll be rewarded with endless vistas of colorful tulips in many different varieties. After taking in the tulips, on your way back home you can either have dinner at Tulalip Casino (farther south on I-5) or at Silver Reef Casino just south of Bellingham. By the way, if you're into shopping, there's a factory outlet mall next to Tulalip Casino.

There's also the alternative -- Tulips of the Valley in Agassiz, if you don't want to cross the border. If there is enough interest, we can go on a trip. The dates are fron April 16 - May 1st. We can hire a bus that can take 24 people. Here's the link:

Let's do Canadian. Maybe April 23 or 24 is a good date. They'll be in full bloom and not fading yet.

Let's do it. I haven't been to this one in Agassiz and I'd like to see it. The mountains serving as a backdrop to the tulips make for some beautiful photography.

After the tulips we can head to Harrison Hot Springs nearby where we can relax and have coffee while taking in the scenery.

I suggest car pooling. Hiring a bus could be expensive.

Depends on the people interested. Perhaps it can be discussed during the fellowship on April 9, Sat.
Then arrangements can be made (date, transport, other details).

If you guys want to go, I suggest going on opening day, Saturday April 16th. The following day, April 17th, is Palm Sunday and the next Sunday, April 24th, is Easter Sunday. The last weekend may not be a good time as the tulips may be gone by then

As you might have read in the papers the blooming of the tulips is delayed due to lack of sunlight. So it might be better to go during the first week of May.
