1. Describe your career goals. -As a student under the program of BAA, one of my career goals is to pass the CPALE and become a CPA in a private company. I prefer a private company instead of an auditing or accounting firm as I believe that I will be more free and will learn a lot outside the concepts I learned in school. Right now, to achieve this goal of mine, I am taking an internship program under a certain private company and I could say that I am enjoying here despite the fast-paced and pressuring environment. 2. How will you benefit from the UPAABC scholarship? Describe the financial challenges that you or your family are currently experiencing. UPAABC will definitely help my family. My father is an OFW until before the pandemic however, their agency couldn’t accommodate as much OFWs as before. To be able to support our family’s needs, he worked as a Lalamove driver since 2019 until now. His average daily income is P500, though there were times where it would be lower than P500. My father and I also tested positive for Covid-19 last April. My father needs to be admitted to the hospital and I need to do home quarantine. Thankfully, that we both recovered, and our family is together once again. 3. What strengths do you have that are useful in becoming a productive member of society? Actively participating in extra-curricular activities have made me develop and improve my skills. One strength that will be useful is my skill to lead and initiate. I may not always have the confidence when it comes to leading, but I put my heart whenever I become one. I am empathetic and I wanted to inspire everyone even with my simple methods. Next strength would be the type to never give up. Given that unfortunate things are happening, what everyone needs is the hope and motivation to stand back and fight, and I want to be one of those people. Angela Pauline Mariano
1. Describe your career goals. My goal as of the moment is to maximize my learning in college, not just in academics but also in my other interests, which is why I’ve joined several organizations. My main goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant or a Forensic Accountant, however, my work in different organizations made me realize that I should not limit myself to one path. I recently learned that I also enjoy marketing and graphic design. If possible, I also want to do freelancing work while being an accountant. 2. How will you benefit from the UPAABC scholarship? Describe the financial challenges that you or your family are currently experiencing. I plan on using the financial assistance to cover the utilities, and if possible, for an emergency fund. My father was fired this month from his occupation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We have little savings as he was responsible for his disabled older brother and older sister and the hospital bills of his parents for over ten years. To minimize our expenses, I have applied for scholarships since junior high. We are all hoping that I can graduate in time so I could replace my father as the breadwinner of the family. 3. What strengths do you have that are useful in becoming a productive member of society? I'm passionate and always follow through on my goals. Although I wasn't able to get into BAA during the UPCAT, I persevered so I could successfully shift into the program. My curiosity has also pushed me to learn several skills, such as entrepreneurship and graphic design. Using these skills, I aim to provide for my family and give financial aid to students like myself. I want to pay it forward, as I know how life-changing these opportunities are. In doing so, I am hoping that their burdens will be eased and that they'd also be encouraged to do the same. Stefanie Gabalfin
1. Describe your career goals.
My goal, career-wise, is to be a Certified Public Accountant. In about 2 years, I hope to graduate from my course and prepare myself to take the CPA Licensure Exam. I hope to pass the CPALE and I aim to be employed as soon as possible. I aspire to work in an environment that fosters growth and enables me to learn more whilst working. Aside from practicing my profession in the future, I also hope to be able to start my own business. 2. How will you benefit from the UPAABC scholarship? Describe the financial challenges that you or your family are currently experiencing. Since my father is the only financial provider in our family, our household income significantly decreased since the beginning of quarantine because he was asked to work lesser days. If ever accepted, the UPAABC Scholarship would be able to lessen my parents’ financial burden with regard to my studies. I plan to help with the bills in our household, specifically our Internet bill, since I am the main user of it for my online classes. Aside from that, the scholarship would greatly help me pay for books, school supplies, and more when the need arises. 3. What strengths do you have that are useful in becoming a productive member of society? First is I do what I am assigned. I listen well to instructions, and my attention to detail helps me ensure that I do the job well. Another is I cooperate, and I seek and give suggestions to tasks that are done in teams. My ability to collaborate enables me to contribute to the job and learn from the people I work with. Lastly, I am optimistic, and I am determined in studying well and enhancing my skills. Dear Ma'am Anita,
Good day! I am happy to inform you that I have successfully finished my second year as a BAA student. I am thankful for the continuous support and assistance given to me by the UPAABC. I have managed to do better this semester and attached below are my grades. As for my co-curricular activities, here are some updates: 1. I was awarded as the Top Performing Associate in the Finance Department of UP JFA Year 53. I was previously awarded as the outstanding member of the month for March and April 2021. I was an Enterprise Associate for this semester where I spearheaded the relaunch of JFA Verde, a small clothing business. 2. I was also a Research and Development Associate for JFA, where my work revolved around ensuring the well-being of the different teams in JFA and thinking of ways on how these teams can function more efficiently. 3. For UP CAP, we successfully launched our week-long Virtual Career Fair 2021, which hosted more than 50 corporate sponsors. As a Communications Officer, we were able to meet all our deadlines and KPIs. Currently, I am taking BA 119 (Special Topics in Accounting) for my midyear. I have attached some photos for your reference. Thank you so much, and I hope you are all well and safe! Warm regards, Mikaella Louren V. Dumdum Dear Iskos and Iskas,
