INTERESTS / HOBBIES: It’s always been a hobby of mine to read and watch animated series during my free time. I really find entertainment in those, and I actually learned some things as well. During this pandemic, I have also developed some hobbies like drawing, painting, doing cross stitch, and dancing. I know to myself that I’m not good at visual and performing arts so I’m trying to improve my skills and at the same time explore more of what I can do in this life. 1. Describe your career goals.
-As a student under the program of BAA, one of my career goals is to pass the CPALE and become a CPA in a private company. I prefer a private company instead of an auditing or accounting firm as I believe that I will be more free and will learn a lot outside the concepts I learned in school. Right now, to achieve this goal of mine, I am taking an internship program under a certain private company and I could say that I am enjoying here despite the fast-paced and pressuring environment.
2. How will you benefit from the UPAABC scholarship? Describe the financial challenges that you or your family are currently experiencing.
UPAABC will definitely help my family. My father is an OFW until before the pandemic however, their agency couldn’t accommodate as much OFWs as before. To be able to support our family’s needs, he worked as a Lalamove driver since 2019 until now. His average daily income is P500, though there were times where it would be lower than P500. My father and I also tested positive for Covid-19 last April. My father needs to be admitted to the hospital and I need to do home quarantine. Thankfully, that we both recovered, and our family is together once again.
3. What strengths do you have that are useful in becoming a productive member of society?
Actively participating in extra-curricular activities have made me develop and improve my skills. One strength that will be useful is my skill to lead and initiate. I may not always have the confidence when it comes to leading, but I put my heart whenever I become one. I am empathetic and I wanted to inspire everyone even with my simple methods. Next strength would be the type to never give up. Given that unfortunate things are happening, what everyone needs is the hope and motivation to stand back and fight, and I want to be one of those people.

1. Describe your career goals.
My career goal is to be an effective employee that aims to help the progress of the company while at the same time helping the Filipino people. I would also like to continue learning about my degree; that is while working, I would like to attend seminars or even take part in some classes abroad. However, I am also planning on pursuing Law after saving enough money to support my study. Additionally, I am also planning on building my own business that aims to provide legal or financial service to people.
2. How will you benefit from the UPAABC scholarship? Describe the financial challenges that you or your family are currently experiencing.
If I get chosen, I am planning to use the scholarship assistance to buy materials essential for my course and study, like books. I am also planning on using them to pay the rent on the dormitory inside UP Diliman if face-to-face classes are soon permitted. I am genuinely worried about this because we are also renting our current place. My parents also have no fixed flow of cash; my mother owns a sari-sari store, and my father is a laborer, and he does not always get good and stable projects.
3. What strengths do you have that are useful in becoming a productive member of society?
One of my current strengths right now that I could use to help our society is by being a member of student organizations in UP Diliman, which helps to mobilize campaigns and projects not only for the benefit of the UP students and UP Community but also for the Filipino people. Additionally, I am now a registered voter, and I do believe that my single vote can make bigger changes for the betterment of our country. I am also keen on studying the candidates for the next elections as this would be a big help in voting next year.

1. Describe your career goals.
My goal as of the moment is to maximize my learning in college, not just in academics but also in my other interests, which is why I’ve joined several organizations. My main goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant or a Forensic Accountant, however, my work in different organizations made me realize that I should not limit myself to one path. I recently learned that I also enjoy marketing and graphic design. If possible, I also want to do freelancing work while being an accountant.
2. How will you benefit from the UPAABC scholarship? Describe the financial challenges that you or your family are currently experiencing.
I plan on using the financial assistance to cover the utilities, and if possible, for an emergency fund. My father was fired this month from his occupation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We have little savings as he was responsible for his disabled older brother and older sister and the hospital bills of his parents for over ten years. To minimize our expenses, I have applied for scholarships since junior high. We are all hoping that I can graduate in time so I could replace my father as the breadwinner of the family.
3. What strengths do you have that are useful in becoming a productive member of society?
I'm passionate and always follow through on my goals. Although I wasn't able to get into BAA during the UPCAT, I persevered so I could successfully shift into the program. My curiosity has also pushed me to learn several skills, such as entrepreneurship and graphic design. Using these skills, I aim to provide for my family and give financial aid to students like myself. I want to pay it forward, as I know how life-changing these opportunities are. In doing so, I am hoping that their burdens will be eased and that they'd also be encouraged to do the same.

1. Describe your career goals.
My goal, career-wise, is to be a Certified Public Accountant. In about 2 years, I hope to graduate
from my course and prepare myself to take the CPA Licensure Exam. I hope to pass the CPALE
and I aim to be employed as soon as possible. I aspire to work in an environment that fosters
growth and enables me to learn more whilst working. Aside from practicing my profession in the
future, I also hope to be able to start my own business.
2. How will you benefit from the UPAABC scholarship? Describe the financial challenges that you or your family are currently experiencing.
Since my father is the only financial provider in our family, our household income significantly decreased since the beginning of quarantine because he was asked to work lesser days. If ever accepted, the UPAABC Scholarship would be able to lessen my parents’ financial burden with regard to my studies. I plan to help with the bills in our household, specifically our Internet bill, since I am the main user of it for my online classes. Aside from that, the scholarship would greatly help me pay for books, school supplies, and more when the need arises.
3. What strengths do you have that are useful in becoming a productive member of society?
First is I do what I am assigned. I listen well to instructions, and my attention to detail helps me ensure that I do the job well. Another is I cooperate, and I seek and give suggestions to tasks that are done in teams. My ability to collaborate enables me to contribute to the job and learn from the people I work with. Lastly, I am optimistic, and I am determined in studying well and enhancing my skills.

Message from Josh Bantenor
Dear Ms. Anita,
It is a pleasure to finally meet one of the members of the UPAABC. But before I provide the requested information below, I just want to say, thank you. I've tried to get your contact information before when I was still an undergraduate with no success due to confidentiality reasons. Which is why I'm genuinely glad I am now able to talk to you. Though this thank you letter may be almost a year late, I hope you'd still accept my most sincere gratitude to your organization for unselfishly supporting my educational endeavors during college. This scholarship had been a key driver for me to focus more on my studies and had been a source of joy that I am able to ease the financial burden of my family. Since then, I've been sharing with my friends that money should never be a hindrance in pursuing their studies because there are people like you who are more than willing to help students like us, if we will just take the initiative to find a scholarship. With that, thank you for accepting my application four years ago.
As per your request, I finished Business Administration last year as Cum Laude of our batch. I don't have my records (for the cumulative average) right now as I'm in the office, but my average for my last year in college based on my CRS record is 1.27. I live at 34 Fisheries st. Vasra, Quezon City. I finished my high school at Quezon City Science High School in 2012. My hobbies include writing, reading books, playing instruments, baking, photography, and calligraphy. I am also one of the youth leaders in our church. As for the extra curricular involvement I had during college, I was affiliated with UP Association of Business Administration Majors, UP Circle of Entrepreneurs, UP Career Assistance Program and UP Business Administration Council. I am now working as a Sales and Marketing Executive in Azeus Systems Ltd., a software company. It's funny how I got assigned to handle Canada as my market to do campaigns. If only I believe in serendipity, I might say that being a British Columbia Scholar is a premonition that my work will be related to Canada as well. You also asked about my dream job, which I believe you might have directed to undergraduate scholars, but I'll answer it anyway. I dream to be an entrepreneur. I was hoping to earn enough capital someday and start my own business, a restaurant to be exact. As for now, it's just a possibility. Regarding my contact information, you may reach me through this email address or skype using this number: 0927 852 4809.
I have attached here photos of me during my graduation, some are photos with my friends during our org activities, and others are pictures of us after business case presentations. I'll try to send the video file next week Monday, Feb 20, at the latest.
Now if it is not too much of a hassle, may I know if you have any other initiatives that help students in their educational endeavors that do not require monetary donations? Like events that need volunteers probably? I'd be glad to participate in such.
Again, thank you Ms. Anita and the rest of the team/organization. May God continually bless the works of UPAABC.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Josh
